Our Story:

Tresses, Locs & Coils, Toronto’s premiere Locs and Natural Hair salon was born in the summer of 2013 out of a passion to embrace my hair in its natural state. When I was a child, I remember feeling like a bother to friends and neighbours for always asking them to do my hair. This was because my grandmother who raised me was unable to care for my hair due to arthritis in her fingers. This was when I first decided that my natural hair was a problem. 

As a young adult I regularly experienced feelings of anxiety and overwhelm whenever It was time to remove my extensions and come face to face with my natural hair. I felt unattractive and thought my hair was ugly and as a result my self esteem was affected. I decided to pray about my dilemma and received words of comfort and reassurance from God that reminded me of my “natural beauty”. After that, I dried my tears and never stopped researching, learning and embracing the unique and beautiful hair that is my natural hair.
